What had initially been planned as a possible full day event with BBQ and Dads v Lads games meant we had the weather to blame for change of plans and in single figure temperatures and constant rain we had at least an entertaining game to finish off the season.
With the majority of the Turton boys turning up 10 minutes before kick off with most still hungover it didnt look good for the home team.
Manager Gibby who arrived with 5 minutes before start and looked worse than most of the players had no option but to put Darbo in a shaky looking back 3 and he was at fault for the opening goal from the visitors before getting the chance to make amends with a penalty which he duly missed by attempting to "Dink" the keeper.
He was substituted soon after Matty raced past him to retake the lead.
A second penalty for the Tigers was this time dispatched by Tom "One stepover is never enough" Birchby to level the scores.
Assistant manager Dave Yates took over from Gibby as he decided to catch up with some sleep in the dugout and in the first of two masterstrokes sent Jasper up for the next corner in which he calmly finished a loose ball to score his first goal of the season
A formation switch was then made with Kieran Sisson playing up top with keen to make amends Darbo who fluffed an open goal from 2 yards soon after coming back on.
"All I could see was the Post coming closer" said the not very brave driver for Warburtons.
However the switch did pay off with Sisso soon stretching the lead and finally Darbo slid in from a cross from the left to guide home his first goal in 5 years and well deserved too.
Yates put the better second half display down to an inspired team talk during the break and is keen to follow up on the current vacancy at City which will be a big loss to the club if he is successful
Lads Club pulled one back late on but the game finished 5-3 and they can certainly be proud being at least 8 years older than the Tigers average age
